ICTE Tallahassee will focus on:

Making Technology Effective in Learning:
What Works and What Doesn't

The Conference will provide a forum for vision and strategy, and will look in detail at the processes, procedures, techniques and tools for creating learning environments appropriate to the twenty-first century. There will be numerous themes, each examining a particular aspect of development and progress. There will be daily plenary session presentations from internationally recognized leaders in education and training.

Pre-conference sessions will focus on distance learning and the Internet, with related workshops and seminars on integration and development processes.

HOW ARE PROPOSALS SELECTED?
Proposal abstracts will be reviewed by the selection panel for appropriate subject and theme, then for content, applicability to other educators, and general interest within the theme. An emphasis is on actual classroom practices, and on real experience with the ideas, concepts, and  methods presented.  While a limited number of theoretical presentations will be considered, the emphasis is for the most part on real applications. A range of presentations is desired, ranging from those related to K-12 classrooms, to post-secondary and higher education, to research, and to administrative and support areas, as well as business and industry. Leading edge technology is of interest, as well as well-grounded visions of the future; however, an emphasis will be placed as well on presentations based on the general types of hardware, software, and related systems in use in classrooms worldwide.  Many schools do not have the latest in operating systems, educational applications, peripherals, and high speed Internet access; nevertheless, each year we see presentations on an impressive number of innovative and successful uses of such systems that are valuable and beneficial to others seeking to make effective use of similar  existing systems.

Abstracts will be reviewed and ranked within these general guidelines, and then selections will be made to fill available slots in the three-day ICTE Tallahassee program.

WHO WILL ATTEND AND WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
For the past eighteen years, ICTE has attracted participants from every sector of our worldwide educational and training community, including teachers, professors, researchers, trainers, administrators, human development directors, curriculum developers, publishers, and other resource providers. The themes reflect this diversity of interest and give an opportunity for those attending to move freely into areas with which they are less familiar if they so wish. The Conference thus provides a unique opportunity to benefit from the wide range of professional expertise of those attending. It is a time to exchange ideas, to get up-to-date, and to meet colleagues from all over the world.
